Fields of Study
Graduate students in Political Science at Ohio State take:
- major field,
- a minor field, and
- a breadth requirement of one course in three of the following fields: American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Politics, and Political Theory.
The 4 main major fields are:
- American Politics
- Comparative Politics
- International Relations
- Political Theory
A distinguishing feature of the OSU graduate program is having 5 additional lively fields that represent important new directions in political science. They are generally taken as minor fields, though some can be taken as second majors:
- Political Psychology
- Political Methodology
- Formal Theory
- Political Economy
- Race, Ethnicity and Gender
