Scott R. Powell

Welcome.

I am a Ph.D. candidate in political science at The Ohio State University.  My research interests include comparative and international political economy, social welfare, and research methodology.  My dissertation examines the role of post-industrial labor markets and trade unions in transforming the welfare state, with a particular focus on reforms that shift the responsibility for finding employment away from the state and onto the unemployed.

I received my master’s degrees at OSU from the Department of Economics in the spring of 2010 and the Department of Political Science in the fall of 2007.  Prior to arriving in Columbus, I completed my undergraduate education at Michigan State University.

Beginning in January of 2012, I will be an Assistant Professor of Political Science and Public Policy at the University of Tennessee.  Please feel free to have a look around.
