Hi, and welcome to my Web page!  I am currently working for the United States Defense Department as a Strategic Systems Analyst, but I really cannot tell you anything more about that.  This page details my academic interests and accomplishments.  Read this little bit about me, or click on some of the links to find out more.

During the 2003-04 Academic Year I was the Senior Methods Fellow in the PRogram In Statistical Methodology. My duties as PRISM Senior Methods Fellow include being the statistical and data management consultant for the Political Science Department, assisting faculty and students in the Department's advanced methods classes, and presenting my own research in a number of departmentally sponsored workshops. I have also been the Assistant Director of the Political Research Laboratory (PRL) in the Political Science Department at Ohio State, and have also served as the coordinator of the Department's Research in International Politics (RIP) seminar series. Check out the PRL and RIP links on this page to learn more about these activities.

My research interests lie mainly in International Security and Quantitative Methods. I have published in the Sage Encyclopedia of Social Research Methods, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, and the Journal of Politics.  I also have several other projects currently under review.  I recently completed a dissertation entitled, "Power and Interests in World Politics: A Dyadic Theory of Conflict and Cooperation," and have another major research project (with Paul Fritz) on Balancing and Bandwagoning among the Great Powers. Click the link to my papers to see some examples of my work.

I was a research assistant on the recently completed Militarized Interstate Dispute 3 Coding Project, and I have served as the Instructor or Teaching Assistant for a variety of classes including Introduction to International Relations, American Foreign Policy, and Ordinary Least Squares Regression. Hit my link to teaching to see some examples of my teaching.

If you'd like to see some of my family and friends you can take a look at some pictures. If you are here to do some IR research or to waste time (especially if you are a sports or weather junkie like me) take a look at the links I have added to my page.

Interested in any of this stuff? You can send me an email sweeney.101@osu.edu or give me a call at (614)226-3219.
